Everyone sweats, but some people have the a real problem with overactive sweat glands. While this might not sound so awful for those that don’t suffer from overactive sweat glands, for those that DO live life this way, it can be a real debilitating situation.

Imagine not being able to shake hands or hug a dear friend for fear of excessive sweating….

Imagine trying to always dress so that others might not see the excessive sweat under your arms caused by your overactive sweat glands.

It’s not a fun life, but it’s one that has options and treatments.

Overactive Sweat Glands – The Causes

Before you can fix anything, we need to first find out what causes it. Overactive sweat glands can be a medical condition or they could “simply” be caused by heredity. Also keep in mind that some people react to certain medications and foods by sweating excessively. If you aren’t sure what is causing your overactive sweat glands and have ruled out all you can possibly think of, consider visiting your doctor for a good check up.

There are many, many ways to treat overactive sweat glands ranging from natural treatments to things more extreme such as Botox injections. In my personal opinion, I would try every natural treatment option available before resorting to some sort of extreme medical treatment.

Axillary Hyperhidrosis

This article covers axillary hyperhidrosis, otherwise known as excessive underarm sweating. It also discusses methods to manage excessive armpit sweating problems.

You have been experiencing excessive perspiration in your armpits even if the weather is not particularly hot. You have to change your clothes every so often so that your shirt would not drip with sweat. You find it really embarrassing to be in social situations because it makes you anxious and therefore aggravating your underarm sweating.

If you find yourself in the aforementioned situation, then you could possibly have axillary hyperhidrosis.

Axillary hyperhidrosis is the medical term for underarm sweating or the excessive production of perspiration in the armpit. There are instances when only one armpit experiences this condition, this is called unilateral axillary hyperhidrosis.

Studies about this abnormality could still not pinpoint the underlying cause of the heavy underarm sweating. There is research which shows that this is hereditary, meaning that it could be transferred via lineage. Moreover, it is also said that this is a product of an abnormality in the response of our sympathetic nervous system (SNS), which is responsible in regulating our responses to emotional triggers such as anxiety or stress. When the SNS does not respond properly, it directly affects the sweat glands since its secretions are an effect of an aroused emotional state. Furthermore, other studies suggest that eating certain types of food and getting too much caffeine and nicotine exacerbates the condition.

Now if you want to end your axillary hyperhidrosis, it is best to start learning how to reduce over activity of the SNS. Treating yourself through antiperspirants and deodorants most likely won’t help. Not only that they are not effective enough but they also have side effects such as burning sensation or skin irritation.

The doctor might advice you to take anticholinergic medications or undergo certain surgical procedures such as the Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy, however medical procedures should only be a last resort. Another one of the latest discoveries is that the Botulinum toxin A (Botox) could be injected to your armpits to alleviate your symptom. However, be reminded that all the options have their advantages and risks so be mindful and weigh each option carefully.

Stop Excessive Underarm Perspiration – Resolve Your Underarm Sweating Problem

Want to know how to effectively stop excessive underarm perspiration? While underarm perspiration is natural and can increase in high temperatures and strenuous physical activities, excessive underarm sweating even in cool weather and normal conditions may cause seriously humiliating problems.

Are you fed up with products that promise to stop excessive underarm perspiration, but don’t deliver? You may not be aware that it doesn’t take intense physical activity or hot weather for underarms to sweat a lot. Even if you’re in a perfectly cool environment, some people still sweat bucket loads because of extreme anxiety or tension. So how do you stop excessive underarm perspiration?

Medically known as axillary hyperhidrosis, excessive underarm perspiration is more of a social embarrassment than a serious medical condition. Large, prominent sweat stains and constant sweating are normal signs.

Should you be suffering from this condition, rest assured that this is curable. You can wear your white shirt again sooner than you think; it doesn’t need to stay in your closet forever.

Common methods to stop excessive underarm perspiration (also known as hyperhidrosis treatments) are prescribed anti-perspirants, botox, and surgery (endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy).

1)	Prescription anti-perspirants. When the best over-the-counter deodorant or anti-perspirant fails, consult your dermatologist. Dermatologists are likely to prescribe anti-perspirants based on aluminum chloride. This may be one of the best, safest cures for excessive underarm sweating.

2)	Botox. Should prescription anti-perspirants prove to be ineffective, a more drastic – and expensive – measure like botox treatment may be called for. Botox is injected in the infected area to prevent the release of a chemical that stimulates sweat production. Injections are done after every 6-10 months.

Though botox is approved by the Food and Drug Administration specifically to stop excessive underarm sweating, be cautious with this method as some patients complain of moderate or severe pain when being administered shots. Also, find a qualified practitioner to ensure your safety in this procedure.

3)	Surgery. Clinically known as endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy (ETS), this treatment involves inserting titanium clips in the underarm to control sweating. The entire procedure is quick and painless but can have some side effects. A common side effect is compensatory sweating, where the body sweats more in other areas to compensate for the reduced sweating in the armpits.

In addition to the above treatments, you can do the following to control and stop underarm sweating:

1)	Wear loose, natural fabrics. Loose clothing will let your underarms breathe more easily. Tight-fitting clothes trap sweat and can even make sweat stains obvious.

Natural fabrics, like cotton and silk, allow sweat to dry faster than synthetic man-made fabrics like spandex and nylon.

2)	Eat and drink properly. Avoid foods that can only worsen your perspiration problem like those with caffeine and alcohol. Cut down or avoid spicy foods as well as they tend to make the body sweat more.

Drinking lots of water is important to re-hydrate the body especially after excessive underarm sweating.

3)	Meditate. As stress and anxiety contribute to excessive underarm sweating, a sound mind can keep it in check. Meditation also maintains the body’s hormonal balance.

As a meditation exercise to stop excessive underarm perspiration, imagine yourself at the base of a mountain. Feel a cool, dry breeze blowing through you. Allow the breeze to slowly and soothingly dry your skin.

Find the cure that suits your body most and complement it with the right diet, comfortable attire, and regular relaxation/meditation. By consistently following this routine, you can effectively stop excessive underarm perspiration and raise the roof with confidence!

Think Out Of the Box Remedies to Stop Armpit Sweating

The phenomenon of armpit sweating is experienced by all human beings. However, the distinction between those experiencing normal armpit sweating and the disease of armpit sweating, which is also known as axillary hyperhidrosis is the causes of sweating and the extent of sweating.

A person suffering from this disorder will find sweat dripping off his armpits. Rivulets will flow down and the sweat never seems to stop. Irrespective of whether the person is undertaking any strenuous activity or not, he or she will be unable to stop armpit sweating.

Excessive armpit swelling can lead to many embarrassing consequences. These include social, physical, mental as well as other consequence.

Person who are unable to stop armpit sweating end up becoming conscious of their condition. They live their whole life from the perspective of whether it would worsen the sweating or not.

The interaction of those suffering from this problem with others comes to a halt. Our society places a high premium on personal hygiene. A person who is stinking will be ridiculed and isolated. Sadly, we do not bother to determine whether the condition is due to a disorder or due to the negligence of the person. People who suffer from excessive armpit sweating avoid meeting people and tend to be withdrawn.

Such persons put in a lot of effort to hide their condition. Rather than discussing it with their friends and family and sharing their trauma, they tend to withdraw and become moody and even depressive.

The mental stress that the person faces contributes to the intensity of the problem. The person fears sudden sweating attacks so much that the very fear and stress leads to attacks.

The problem of body odor becomes a very serious one. The odor of sweat caused by axillary hyperhidrosis cannot be masked by ordinary deodorants. Further, this problem may occur in combination with other sweating disorders. The person may have to cope with not only sweating armpits but sweating faces, thighs and palms as well.

Armpits are enclosed spaces and excessive sweating may lead to irritation of the skin and even skin rashes. This disorder does not lead to mere social problems. Failure to stop armpit sweating leads to actual health problems.

To keep armpit sweating under control, it is very important to face the problem as early as possible. Longer the problem remains unsolved, more the mental trauma and distress that the person would face.

Do not treat the problem of armpit sweating as a cosmetic or personal hygiene problem. It is a problem caused by the malfunctioning of the sweat glands and the nervous system of the person. The sufferer deserves sympathy and medial treatment. Since the actual causes of the disorder remain shrouded in mystery and a combination of hereditary, genetic, hormonal and other factors is considered to be the cause of this problem, one should not restrict oneself to conventional remedies only.

Remedies based on proper understanding of our body and remedies based on common sense and self will are most likely to succeed.
How to Stop Excessive Sweating
Excessive sweating can be quite a problem at times. Here is how to stop excessive sweating.

There is nothing abnormal about sweating, it is a regular biological phenomenon. However, as the popular saying goes, “excess of anything is not good”. The same applies to sweating as well. Excessive sweating is not only uncomfortable and embarrassing, but it can also lead to certain health issues down the line. So what causes those extra-sweaty palms and feet? How does it affect one’s health? And most importantly, how to stop excessive sweating? Does there exist any sort of excessive sweating treatment? Let us answer all these questions one by one.

Reasons for Excessive Sweating

Excessive sweating is not limited to the geographical location, lifestyle, or nature of work of a person. Both, a person sitting in an air-conditioned room in London, as well as a taxi driver in the sweltering summer heat of Mumbai are equally prone to excessive sweating. The following are the common causes of excessive sweating:

intense physical activity

prolonged and direct exposure to bright sunlight

genetic or hereditary reasons

obesity

improper or unhealthy diet

chain smoking

heavy, regular intake of alcohol

diabetes, thyroid problems and certain other medical issues

high intake of caffeine

consuming piping hot drinks

anxiety or extreme nervousness.Effects of Excessive Sweating

Excessive underarm sweating is a condition that many people experience. It can be quite disturbing as it leads to formation of sweat stains on clothes as well as body odor. If kept unchecked, this can lead to social embarrassment and can severely dent one’s self confidence. Excessive facial sweating and head sweating can be extremely problematic for actors, models, television anchors and presenters, reporters, stage performers, etc. It not only ruins makeup but makes for an unpleasant sight as well. In addition to social, cosmetic and appearance-related reasons, excessive sweating is also bad for your body and your long term health. This is because those suffering from heavy perspiration lose a lot of water and salts in the form of sweat. In order to compensate for this, it is necessary that one drinks plenty of water and liquids to replenish the body’s fluid content. Failure to do so can lead to dehydration, weakness, headache and other health related issues.

How to Stop Excessive Sweating

Here are the different ways and methods of controlling and reducing excessive sweating and perspiration:

Natural Remedies: Let us have a look at some natural treatment methods first. Cutting down on caffeine, spicy food and processed food can reduce sweating to an extent. Also keep your body hydrated by drinking lots of water. Make sure your diet has an equal balance of proteins, vitamins, minerals and fiber. Additionally, some people believe that applying a patch of baking soda and cornstarch on your underarms can help in reducing sweating. Although there is no conclusive evidence to support this, you can try it out as a home remedy.

Antiperspirants: Using aluminum chloride-based antiperspirants can somewhat help in combating excessive sweating. These are commonly available in all cosmetic stores, shopping malls or department stores. They are available in many brands and variants, therefore choosing the right one which suits your needs may require a little bit of trial and error.

Iontophoresis: This process involves subjecting the concerned patch of skin to mild electrical pulses through water. It is said that this makes the sweat producing glands produce less amount of sweat at the skin surface. The effectiveness of this method varies from person to person and from body part to body part.

Botox Treatment: In this case, the affected skin area is subjected to a number of Botox injections, the purpose of which is to close the underlying sweat pores and thereby prevent sweating in that particular area. However, these injections can be quite painful to both, you and your pocket. Also, the effects are rarely permanent and one has to repeat the procedure anywhere between 2-3 times a year.So for those of you who were wondering, “how to stop excessive sweating?”, here’s the answer. A combination of the above treatment methods can help in lessening, if not eliminating, the torment that excessive sweating causes. To conclude, one can safely say that although there can be no cure for sweating, the future could well see a possible cure for excessive sweating.

How to Stop Excessive Underarm Sweat Naturally without Surgery?

Are you embarrassed with your excessive armpit sweating and sweat patch on your dress? Are you frustrated because conventional medicines provide only a temporary relief? In this article you will get tips on how to stop underarm sweating naturally and how to avoid surgery for excessive armpit sweat

Are you struggling with excessive underarm sweat?

The medical term of excessive sweating in the armpit of a person is Axillary hyperhidrosis. Underarm sweat is not uncommon but for about 1% of the population suffers from profuse underarm sweating.

Profuse sweating starts in the mid or late teens and continues to control our life for years. Constant wet and sweaty armpits together with the bad odor often forced us to avoid social lives.

For some people excessive axillary sweating is accompanied by palmar hyperhidrosis or excessive hand sweating.

Before we go on understanding the methods on how to stop armpit sweating without surgery it is important to understand that sweating is one of the ways in which the body regulates our body temperature and keeps our skin moisture intact.

What are the causes of excessive sweating and how to control it?

Apocrine and Eccrine glands are responsible for underarm sweating. Secretion from Apocrine glands are responsible for bad smell. In case of mild hyperhidrosis Drysol, Drionic, Botox are used to control armpit sweating.

If you are a victim of excessive sweating it is not because you have too many sweat glands but due to nerve cell activity of those glands. We sweat more when we feel hot or we are nervous.

How to stop underarm sweat & patches?

6 ways to stop underarm sweating

1. Avoid direct exposure to the sun

2. Take a shower every day and clean your underarms properly.

3. Try wearing cotton clothes

4. You should use good antiperspirant to reduce sweat and a deodorant to stop bad body odor.

5. It is recommended to use talcum powder to slow down bacterial growth

6. An important thing to note is that underarm-hair hold the sweat and makes the smell worse. So it is highly recommended to shave your arm pits to reduce bacteria build up.

In case of excessive under arm sweat, physicians often recommend surgery.

How to stop sweating so much without surgery?

Proper diet is important to control body odor. Certain foods such as onions, fish, garlic and spicy foods like curry can trigger sweat.

A good way to stop your excessive underarm armpit sweating is to use a natural cure. I found a simple & safe treatment that has dramatically cut sweating by 95% who have followed this method. Unlike the antiperspirants that try to lock up your armpits to stop the sweating to come through, this natural method fixes the root cause for underarm sweating.

One of such tip is to use lemon to prevent excessive underarm sweating. It reduces the amount of odor that comes from excessive sweating. But please note that it is a preventive measure and may not completely prevent you from sweating. It is better to use a fresh lemon rather than an already squeezed one. Gently rub this on the affected area and you will know that it was never difficult to know how to stop underarm sweat.

I am not recommending that you should not use deodorant. I am just telling you that there are cheap and simple natural remedies that you can use together with a new way of cleaning your armpits, which will stop your excessive armpit sweating problem within a short period of time.

Get Motivated

Make a date to meet someone for a run. There’s no wimping out when someone is waiting. Take it from one of the coldest running clubs in the world. John Stanton, the founder of the Running Room in Edmonton, Alberta, says the club’s Wednesday and Sunday group runs are popular in winter, when the average high is -8°C. In January and February, the Running Room hosts the Hypothermic Half-Marathon, which attracts 3500 runners in 14 cities across the world – even at temps as low as -20°C. ‘There’s a big, free brunch afterward,’ Stanton says. ‘People will do anything for omelets and pancakes.’

Solo? Tell yourself that you can go back inside after five minutes if it’s really bad. Usually you stay out there. Of course, not everyone objects to winter weather. A night run during a light rain is one of the most peaceful things you can experience.

Your Feet

To keep warmth in and cold, wet rain out, run in shoes that has the least amount of mesh. If you have shoes with Gore-Tex uppers, all the better. Wear socks that wick away wetness but keep your feet warm. Usually thinner socks work better since they absorb less water and dry easier.

Get Dressed

You want to be warm without sweating so much you get a chill. The rule of thumb is to dress as if it is 5 degrees warmer. You should be slightly cool when you start. Think layers of technical fabrics, to wick sweat, with zippers at the neck and underarm area to vent air as you heat up. Shop around to find out what works best for your circumstances. Running jackets are an investment for outdoor comfort and they last for years.

Be Seen

With limited daylight, chances are you’ll be running in the dark. Wear reflective, fluorescent gear, and don’t be shy about lighting yourself up like a Christmas tree. I use a headlamp or carry a flashlight, less so I can see where I’m going and more so people can see me.

Warm up; Pre-run

Move around inside enough to get the blood flowing without breaking a sweat. Run up and down your stairs, use a jump rope, or do a few yoga sun salutations. A speedy house-cleaning works, too. The cold doesn’t feel so cold when you’re warm. If you’re meeting a group of running buddies, don’t stand around in the cold chatting before you run. We sit in our cars, waiting for one person to get out before we all get out.

Deal with Wind

Start your run into the wind and finish with it at your back, so the breeze doesn’t blast you after you’ve broken a sweat.

To avoid a long, biting slog, you can break this into segments, running into the wind for about 10 minutes, turning around to run with the wind at your back for five minutes, and repeating. You can also seek man-made wind protection. When we get wind here, it can be like a hurricane. The buildings downtown block it.

Protect exposed skin.

I use Vaseline on my nose and on my cheeks to prevent frostbite. You can also buy a Buff to protect exposed areas, especially the ears.

Forget Speed

Winter running is more about maintenance kilometres than speedwork. In very cold weather, look for ‘inversions,’ places that are elevated and where the air will be warmer.

Even 90 metres up, the air can be six degrees warmer, which makes a big difference. If you can’t run in the middle of the day when the temperatures are warmest, run twice a day, 5km in the morning and 5km in the evening: That’s better than doing one long 10km run where you might get very cold.

Change Quickly

Your core body temperature drops as soon as you stop running. To avoid a lingering case of the chills, change your clothes – head to toe – as soon as you can. Women need to get out of damp sports bras quickly. Put a dry hat on wet hair. And drink something hot. We go to a coffee shop after, and take turns using the bathroom to change. Then we all relax with coffee and muffins. Driving to a run? Bring a thermos of green tea or hot chocolate.

Deal with Rain

I have a spare pair of sneakers, a running outfit, and three beach towels. When it’s raining, I slip my stocking feet into plastic bags, then put on my running shoes. The bags keep my feet dry even when I run through puddles. Most wet weather runners rotate pairs of shoes. If you have to dry shoes overnight, crumple up newspaper and cram it tightly into your shoes, with the insoles removed. The newspaper soaks up the moisture. When drying running shoes however, don’t put them in the oven or tumble dry since it destroys the glue keeping the bits together.
